Adult Services

Adults may experience changes in their communication, thinking, and/or swallowing abilities after certain illnesses, neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s or ALS, traumatic brain injury, or certain types of surgery. These adults often benefit from consultation with a speech language pathologist or individual speech language therapy. A growing number of adults are also seeking the services of a speech language pathologist to assist them with accent reduction. Therapy for adults is typically 1 to 2 times per week for 45 or 60 minute sessions.

Linda’s work in the field of speech language pathology has provided her the opportunity to specialize in several areas that focus on adult communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing skills.

These areas include:

Aphasia resulting from strokes
(cerebrovascular accidents), traumatic brain injury
Progressive neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s, ALS, multiple sclerosis
Dysphagia/swallowing disorders
Acquired cognitive linguistic deficits
Hearing loss
Voice disorders
